Freight Forwarding Guide

Shipment Information

How to use SCS as your freight forwarder from the United States to Anguilla, what your supplier needs to know, and what to expect every step of the way.

US Forwarding Address

Where to send
your goods from the US.

SCS operates a freight forwarding service from the United States to Anguilla. When you purchase goods from a US retailer or supplier, you can ship them to our US forwarding address and we will consolidate them with the next King Ocean sailing to Anguilla.

Always contact us before placing an order so we can confirm the current forwarding address and advise on any requirements for your specific cargo. Notify us each time a shipment is on its way so we can watch for it on arrival.

Your name and Anguilla contact number must appear clearly on all packages and on the commercial invoice. This ensures your goods are identified and matched to your account the moment they arrive.

The Process

From the US to your door.

01

Contact SCS First

Get in touch with our team before your shipment departs. We will confirm the current forwarding address, advise on any documentation needed, and let your supplier know what to include on the commercial invoice and packing list.

02

Ship to the Forwarding Address

Your supplier ships the goods to the SCS freight forwarding address in the US, referencing your name and contact number clearly on all packages. We receive the cargo and coordinate loading onto the next available sailing.

03

We Handle the Ocean Freight

SCS books your cargo on the next King Ocean sailing from the US to Anguilla, prepares all the required shipping documentation, and sends you confirmation of the sailing schedule and expected arrival date.

04

Arrival & Customs Clearance

When your cargo arrives at Anguilla's port, SCS handles the full customs clearance process on your behalf. We prepare and file the import declaration, calculate applicable duties, and arrange release of your goods. We notify you as soon as everything is cleared and ready for collection.

For Your Supplier

What to include on every shipment.

Most clearance delays are caused by missing or inaccurate information from the supplier. Make sure your supplier includes all of the following.

Consignee Name

Your full name (or business name) exactly as it should appear on all shipping documents. This must match your customs identification.

Contact Number

Your Anguilla phone number on every package and on the commercial invoice. This allows SCS to match incoming shipments to your account quickly.

Accurate Item Descriptions

Every item must be described specifically — brand, model, material, and intended use. Vague descriptions such as "general merchandise" trigger customs queries and delays.

True Invoice Value

The commercial invoice must show the actual purchase price in US dollars. Undervaluing goods is a customs offence and can result in seizure and penalties.

Packing List

A detailed list of contents by box or pallet, including dimensions and weights. Required for customs assessment and for matching cargo to your account on arrival.

Paperwork

Documents you will need.

SCS handles most of these. You supply the invoice and packing list.

Commercial Invoice

Must show supplier and buyer details, full item descriptions, quantities, unit prices, and total value in US dollars. SCS will flag any missing fields before your shipment departs.

Packing List

A detailed breakdown of each carton or pallet: contents, dimensions, gross weight, net weight, and marks. Required for port handling and customs.

Bill of Lading

The ocean transport document issued by King Ocean Services. SCS obtains and manages this on your behalf as part of the freight forwarding service.

Import Declaration (C82)

The HM Customs Anguilla entry form. SCS prepares and files this for every shipment we clear. We will contact you only if customs requires additional information.

Permits (if applicable)

Certain goods require an import permit before arrival, including firearms, food products, plants, live animals, and pharmaceuticals. Contact SCS early if your cargo may require one.

Restrictions

Prohibited &
restricted goods.

Certain goods are prohibited from import into Anguilla entirely. Others are restricted and can only be imported with advance permits or certificates that must be obtained before the goods depart.

If your shipment includes a restricted item, the permit must be in place before the goods are shipped to the forwarding address. Contact SCS in advance if you are unsure whether your cargo requires a permit.

Attempting to import prohibited items or failing to declare restricted goods results in seizure, fines, and potential criminal liability. When in doubt, ask us before you ship.

Prohibited or Restricted Items
  • Illegal narcotics and controlled substances
  • Firearms and ammunition (without prior import permit)
  • Counterfeit goods and pirated material
  • Obscene or indecent publications
  • Certain agricultural products without phytosanitary certificate
  • Live animals without veterinary health certificate and import permit
  • Hazardous materials without proper IMDG/IATA classification and declaration

This list is not exhaustive. Contact SCS or HM Customs Anguilla for guidance on any item you are unsure about.
